Gearing up for a 2019 return is Nike’s unconventional Air Rift silhouette, this time however injected with Japanese design aesthetics.
Dressed in an all-black knitted upper, this latest Air Rift model incorporates an eccentric toe tabi design, bordering the line between sneaker and sandal. In terms of branding, small Swoosh insignias have been embroidered onto the forefoot while “Nike” branding has been added to the stark white midsole and the heel counter’s Velcro pull tab fastener. In lieu of laces, a large strap adorns the midsection, adding security for the wearer. Finally a phylon air-sole unit adds to the final touch of this welcomed iteration.
Originally debuted back in 1996, look for Nike’s famed Air Rift sneaker-sandal to return in the upcoming weeks at select Nike retailers and over at nike.com.
