‘Overwatch’ Will Now Immediately Shut down Your Game When It Detects Cheating

html,body{height:100%}Overwatch Game Director Jeff Kaplan announced in a recent Developer Update for July 2019 that the game now has a new mechanism to deal with cheaters. After a short introduction to changes for Blizzard’s first-person shooter’s annual Summer Games event and teasing an upcoming new hero, Kaplan revealed that “we have improved detection for cheating.” He continued, “Now, we will automatically shut down a match where we detect cheating is happening.” However, fans can rest assured that those who aren’t cheating won’t be hit with an early-leave penalty: “We will make sure that nobody on either side of the match is penalized for that match being shut down. So if you’re in a competitive match, you won’t lose SR [points].”The new feature is currently running on Overwatch’s Public Test Realm servers, although Kaplan did not reveal any official date for the feature to hit all servers of the game. Neither did he explain how the new system can better detect cheating, but he did however reassure players of the game that those found cheating will face “very harsh actions.”For more gaming news, check out our review of Super Mario Maker 2.Read more at HYPEBEAST
