LEGO Lands a Life-Sized ‘Star Wars’ X-Wing on a Swiss Mountain

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of LEGO’s collaboration with Star Wars, the toy model company has ‘landed’ a life-sized X-Wing replica on Jungfraujoch in Switzerland, marking the highest spot on Earth the X-Wing has ever reached — 3,454 meters above sea level. The fighter jet is set against a backdrop reminiscent of the ice planet Hoth from The Empire Strikes Back. Built with a jaw-dropping 2.5 million bricks, it took the LEGO 1,500 hours of work to complete.Celebrating the installation, LEGO released the following statement:”‘Do or do not – there is no try’ says Jedi Master Yoda to Luke Skywalker in ‘Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back’. Then, using the Force, he lifts an X-Wing out of the swamp – thus making what was impossible for Luke, possible. LEGO took this scene to heart and now presents, on the occasion of ‘The Force Friday’ on October 4th, 2019, on the Jungfraujoch in Switzerland, a true-to-original LEGO reproduction of the unmistakable LEGO Star Wars X-Wing starfighter from the Skywalker saga. True to the motto ‘The Force is in your hands,’, LEGO wants to show that even things which seem too challenging can be mastered, landing the large model on the highest point on which a LEGO Star Wars X-Wing has ever landed – at least in this galaxy.”For more things Star Wars, check out Futura and Funko’s Boba Fett collaboration.Click here to view full gallery at HYPEBEAST
